Training and empowering female young lawyers to defend women's rights in Asuit

 

The Arab Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and Legal Professions (ACIJLP) continues its activity in the field of "Training and Empowering Women lawyers to Defend women's rights issues,”. The first phase of the project continued during 2012 - 2013 and included a number of six training courses for female lawyers, attended by 136 female lawyers from different Egyptian governorates and different enrollment degrees in the bar association. The project is financed the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) at the Canadian Embassy in Cairo.

The ACIJLP begins the second phase of this activity by organizing a series of training courses target women lawyers in the Egyptian governorates. The Fourth training course of female lawyers will begin on Tuesday 11th - 13th February 2014 in Asuit .

A number of 20 female lawyers from Asuit Governorate will participate in the training course. Many legal professors and specialists in the field of international law and human rights and activists in the field of human rights will conduct the training.

The training course includes many topics related to the skills of litigation in the field of women's rights issues such as the rights of women in the international covenants and Egypt's position to ratify and put these covenants in the hierarchy of national legislation, women's rights in national legislation (civil and political rights – economic, social and cultural rights) , legal support and skills of litigation in the field of personal status and women's issues. In addition to, the mechanisms of judicial support for marginalized women and victims of violence and harassment, the mechanisms of legal and judicial support for women in the Egyptian judicial system , the skills of advocacy and writing notes on women's issues and the skills to use the international covenants on women's rights before national judiciary .

The training also includes practical and professional topics such as the rights of women in international and national legislation, practical exercises and case study on the issues of personal status, as well as practical exercises and case study on the issues of violence - harassment, exercises and a case study on the use of international conventions before the national judiciary and the skills of advocacy and writing notes on the issues women.

The series of training courses will provide legal support and information and support skills of litigation for female lawyers in the Egyptian governorates in order to facilitate the provision of legal support for women, and the formation of a network of Egyptian female Lawyers to defend the rights of women in general and marginalized women in particular.
