The ACIJLP holds press conference: to announce its annual report in 2012, entitled "An Attack on Justice in Egypt"

The Arab Center for the Independence of Judiciary and the Legal Profession (ACIJLP) organizes a press conference at 11:00 am on Tuesday, 5th March, 2013 in its headquarters located at 8/10 Mathaf El - Manial street – Manial Al-Roda - Cairo.

The press conference addresses a presentation of the annual report "an attack on justice in Egypt". The report addressed a monitoring of the events suffered by the Egyptian judiciary after the 25th January Revolution, the events which represented serious threats and violated the independence of the Egyptian judiciary and the conditions of justice to the extent it can pose serious threats to the collapse of the rule of law. In addition to, many practices whether by the Egyptian People's Assembly or by the executive Authority and whether came in the form of bills or constitutional declaration, or even included in the Egyptian constitution in 2012 and attacks on the courts and public prosecutions offices by litigants or outlaws.

The report entitled "An Attack on Justice in Egypt" includes five sections, the first section discussed the international standards and requirements of the independence of the judiciary, while the Second Section discussed the legislative climate of the independence of the judiciary in Egypt, whether the constitutions or constitutional declarations or ordinary legislation. The third section of the report monitored the manifestations of friction between the legislative and the executive authority and the judiciary, the fourth section highlighted physical manifestations of a violation of the independence of the judiciary and the comments of the ACIJLP on it and sixth section included the recommendations of the ACIJLP in order to protect the independence of the judiciary in Egypt.

It is scheduled that Mr. Nasser Amin, lawyer and the director - general of the Arab Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession (ACIJLP) will present a summary of the report. This will be followed by interventions of journalists and human rights activists who participate in the conference.
